What ? Our Second Annual Walk-A-Thon Here? Arreyksat Village

Saturday, Dad and I participated in the Annual Walk-A-Thon to help raise money for the Women's hospital here. If you remember last year we did it, and I showed the construction of the hospital.  It has now been built to the third floor, but still has a ways to go.  The medical care for women here is so bad, this hospital will be a great blessing when it is completed.

We first rode a tuk-tuk up to the river, then a ferry across the river.

Looking down from the top of the ferry.  You can see some of the participants with the red hats on.

The banks of the Village Arreyksat.  This is where we got off of the  ferry.  The walk began just up the road.

Just starting.....yikes...too many things hanging around my neck. (I know I am a goofball.. )

The school bus for the kids parked at the driver's house. ( nice house must be a good job)

This is one of the biggest bunch of bananas I have seen still growing on the banana tree!  The orange on the leaves is the orange dust from the road.

We gave these boys our hats.  (on our way back through the village)  Actually, Dad plopped his on one of the boys heads when he was riding by.  Peer pressure,  I had to give mine to the other boy.

About 10 minutes later they came back, whizzing by us, just so happy!

At the finish line...

and getting back on the ferry, a different one.  More cars and motos on this one.

A lady and her kids on the ferry, her business set up there.  Fried grasshoppers....a great snack to eat on the ferry ride! There is a hammock right behind her, I think with a baby in it.  I think they might live on the ferry.
