Back Packs To School Children In A Remote Mountain Village March 2, 2016

It is with such a grateful heart that I write this blog tonight.  A heart full of love for the children we met today at this school. This mission has given us so many opportunities to feel love for Heavenly Fathers children and to feel love from His children.

These little ones have so little, but are all smiles.  I got a lot of hugs, and some very heartfelt kisses.  So so sweet...

We left early 7 am this morning for what turned out to be a 3  hour drive  south of Phnom Penh to a remote rural village in the mountain National Park Kirirom.

When we arrived the children were all lined up, boys on one side, girls on the other.  They were clapping and we were to walk down the middle.  It was so cute, they just clapped and clapped.  I would go up close , wave and take their pictures all along the way.

This was a senior missionary service project.  Backpacks were bought and assembled with school supplies for the 100 children that attend Phum Thmey Kirirom Primary School.

The school is just one room, some boards on the sides and a dirt floor.  50 kids go in the morning and 50 in the afternoon.  Ages 4-14.  The room is only about 15'x30'.

We passed out the backpacks.  They loved them.

Their faces......

After they sat around their desks outside and colored pictures.

 Dad of course teasing them...

The senior sisters were presented with a head wreath of flowers.  I knew right when it was placed on my head I wanted to give it to this certain girl.  Our eyes had connected several times at the beginning, and later after many hugs, she grabbed my arm to show me where she lived.   She just pulled me away. We walked a little ways down a dirt path and we were at her home.

I gave her my flower wreath, and our hearts were touched, both of us with tears in our eyes; definitely an exchange of love.   Although there is a language barrier, love can break through and communication happens.

Time for me to get back to the school....waving goodbye with her siblings

A little after I got back, this sweet girl now wanted  to show me her house.   We walked the opposite direction around a few turns on the dirt path and we arrived.  She wanted me to go inside, so I hobbled up those stairs  and she took me in her room.  It was in the front of the house.  She was so proud and happy to share it with me.

It might have been because she had a new mattress. (of course it is on the floor), and nothing else in the room,  all she had in a little bag hanging on a nail on the wall.

And this hand made guitar.

These children are so lovable.  They don't have much , but are so grateful and content for what they do have.

A little pet monkey eating the sucker that was in the back pack.

Wonderful!!!
